Setting Yourself Free From Stress
Here are some tools to transform the way you approach life.
The key is not to just cope with stress (so that we can still do everything we're doing and somehow not feel stressed-out.)
Stress is the result of an out-of-balance situation.
So instead of trying to somehow feel peace on top of imbalance, we can instead make changes that eliminate the causes of stress and get us back in balance within ourselves.
The Twelve "R's" Of Stress-Relief
#1) Re-balance Yourself
This is really the key to releasing stress. Stress is caused by being out of balance. Ask yourself, "Where is my life out of balance?"
#2) Recognize Where You Are Out Of Alignment With Yourself
Stress is really a form of fear. It is not a natural way of being. It's a signal that something is not in alignment with our deeper truth.
#3) Record Your Feelings In A Journal
Use your journal as a valuable tool to help you uncover your true feelings and find new solutions.
#4) Reevaluate Your Motives
If you find yourself resistant to the idea of doing less, ask yourself if your true motive is to prove your worth.
#5) Reappraise Your Lists of "Shoulds" and "Have To's"
Look at your mental lists of things you have to do or be. You may find that many of them are based in fear.
#6) Reconsider Your Priorities
Are your daily, stress-related actions in alignment with you true priorities, or are you just in "reaction mode"?
#7) Recommit To Your True Self
Set new intentions based on who you really are.
#8) Relax Your Body
Give yourself permission to relax. Begin to listen to your body. It will tell you when you are not in balance.
#9) Retreat, Recharge, and Restore Yourself
Don't wait until you are out of balance and stressed-out. Build time to recharge into your schedule.
#10) Reconnect With Your Spirit
Take time, throughout the day, to close your eyes for a moment and go within. Reconnect to the deep wisdom within you.
#11) Refocus Your Thoughts
Remember, stress is a form of fear. Catch yourself when you are thinking thoughts that scare you. Know that positive solutions exist for you, even if you can't see them yet.
#12) Reorganize Your Surroundings
Get rid of physical clutter, a little bit at a time. Make sure that the things around you support you, instead of draining your energy. I hope that you will use these Twelve "R's" to free yourself from stress and begin to truly live!
